SPEP separates serum proteins into albumin, alpha-1, alpha-2, beta, and gamma globulin fractions. Detection of a dense narrow gamma peak (M-spike) confirmed by Immunofixation Electrophoresis (IFE) establishes Multiple Myeloma or MGUS diagnosis.

Venous blood sample. Overnight fasting recommended.
